I live n Bend, Oregon but travel worldwide for work. Last year I traveled as far as Copenhagen, Denmark to shoot a castle wedding. I also spend a lot of time in my home city of San Francisco.
WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?
I'm a Nikon shooter. My mom was a Nikon shooter and I'm carrying out her legacy by lovin' on Nikon.
I shoot with two full frame camera bodies, a D810 and a D750. Both are AH-MAZING. I'm completely devoted to and in love with my 35mm, 1.4 lens and shoot on it 95% of the time. On wedding days, I also utilize a 50mm, 1.2, an 85mm, 1.2 and a 60mm macro lens for bomb detail shots. I shoot prime lenses only because I'm a purist and believe in moving my body to get the shot instead of moving my lens.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
Oh boy...well, photography is in my DNA. My mom was an oil painter and film photographer. She was magical and I grew up in her art studio and in front of her camera. She inspires the majority of my work and I wish every single day that I could collaborate with her.
Less than five years after she passed away from cancer, I picked up a camera and the rest is history. I shot my first cookbook when I was 19 years old. I then studied Photojournalism at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon with National Geographic Photographer Dan Morrison. After college, I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark where I got my start in wedding and elopement photography. I also photographed multiple fashion campaigns for boss lady owned labels during my time in Copenhagen. I've been a full-time photographer for the past three years. My background in journalism has laid the foundation for my organic and candid storytelling photography.
DO YOU OFFER MENTORING SESSIONS?
I offer mentoring sessions for $550.00. They are four hours long and include everything from shooting to editing to growing your business and delivering an excellent client experience. You'll also get some headshots shot by me as well!
You can email me about setting up a time to meet via my contact form!
DO YOU USE A SECOND SHOOTER?
YES! My amazing partner and love, James Ryan, is my second shooter. He is the most amazing artist and I love his work. We work so well together and he is my second shooter at weddings and assistant on all other shoots. I love having a second shooter because it's a safety on wedding photos and he covers all my bases.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I GET MY PHOTOS!?
I do my absolute best to get images to you as soon as possible after the shoot. During my busiest seasons (May - September) wait time for wedding photos can be up to ten weeks. For all other shoots, processing won't take longer than four weeks. Remember, I custom edit every single photo and try to deliver as many as possible, which takes time!! I promise I'm trying to get them to you as fast as possible.
BUT I HATE BEING IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA AND CAN'T STAND HOW I LOOK IN PHOTOS!
I hear this all the time. Don't worry—it's totally normal to feel awkward in front of the camera. I take it on as my job to make you feel comfortable to be yourself so that I can capture the authentic YOU. I have tons of fun prompts and I'll probably ask you tons of questions and capture those gorgeous in between moments. By style is raw, emotional, candid and organic. If you've ever had bad photos taken of yourself—fear not, I truly believe that the beauty is in the eye of the beholder and literally every single human is beautiful in their own way. As the photographer, it's my job to capture your beauty. The only thing I ask if for you to show up to our session with an open mind and willingness to be vulnerable. I'll even let you take my photo with my camera if you want.
